Sky vodka. This one seems to be all over the place.
There is no obvious reason why >Skyy vodka should be so popular
Skyy is a vodka brand from the US that was established in the 90s, and it now seems to have taken over the club scene. It is using aggressive marketing techniques such as product placement (even in Chinese sitcoms) to push its brand image. And it seems to be pretty successful at it.
To me personally, there didn’t seem to be much hurry to try it. Smirnoff Red Label #21 is popular, and it’s not that great. Absolut is popular, and it’s a bit better, but it’s not really excellent either.
Anyway, this Skyy stuff was actually better than I thought. It is basically comparable to brands like Absolut or Finlandia, which are of solid quality and excel in mixed drinks. You probably wouldn’t want to be drinking this like a Belvedere or a Russian Standard though.
Here’s my verdict: Clean, smooth taste: 8/10. Slightly boring aftertaste: 7/10. Average bottle design: 5/10. Good price of about 13€ for 700ml: 8/10. It’s a good vodka.
I am wondering why I’ve never tried this one earlier.
