I got this one in a mall in Prague, and to this day I am not sure what it is actually called. Is it Blend 42 vodka? Or rather 42 Blended vodka? The label suggested the former, but I looked it up online and chose to go with the latter eventually. Also, the bottle design apparently got changed around lately, meaning I got one of the old bottles. But I am not sure if I understood all of this correctly. Anyway…
Is 42 Blended vodka different from other brands because it is blended?
First thing you notice about this vodka is that it is advertised as being “blended”, i.e. a mix of different vodka brands, something we usually know from sophisticated drinks like whisky. It makes you wonder why nobody else thought of this before. But will it be any good?
The price was awesome, just like most vodka you can get in the Czech Republic: I bought this for about 9€/700ml, making it another 10/10. The bottle design, I’d give it a 5/10. Maybe the decision to redo the design was justified.
The taste was surprisingly hot, it had a sort of toughness to it that seemed like it was there on purpose, as though vodka had to be manly to be appealing, and it kind of reminded me of , maybe a bit milder (6/10). The aftertaste was good though, it was aromatic and made for a nice warm feeling (7/10).
I am not sure if blending is the way to go when it comes to vodka. But this one wasn’t bad.
