Ogni Kremlya vodka

I got wasted

This is a review of Ogni Kremlya vodka from Russia. I sampled it in Germany in 2013. It’s clear, 40% alcohol, and it got me very drunk.

I don’t remember much about this one: Ogni Kremlya vodka (Огни Кремля). Which is a tragedy.

First off I feel like I have to apologize to the good people who made Ogni Kremlya, because this review is probably not going to do their work much justice. I usually try not to drink too much. But this time I didn’t. Or rather: I did, I really did try not to drink too much. But then things went out of control.

no trace

One thing I like to do is try to get some information about the vodka I’m drinking. Where exactly is it from, is it an independent brand or does it belong to a (multinational) corporation?

In the case of Ogni Kremlya vodka I could hardly find anything. Its name meant “Lights Of The Kremlin”, that was all I knew. I tried looking for it in English and Russian, but there was nothing.

In the end I found this ad on Youtube:

It was a simple commercial. A bottle spinning, a bottle getting opened, a bottle pouring, a bottle standing around:

Cinematography that looked super eighties:

And a slogan that said THE CHOICE OF THE STRONGEST:

Did this help me get to know Ogni Kremlya vodka. Not really.

how it felt

Okay, so back to my drinking session. I remember there was laughter. There were jokes. Then there was more laughter. It was a world afloat, and I was in it. At some point I felt as if I was twisting and turning, like I was being toppled over by waves in an ocean. Just thinking about it makes my head spin.

What can I say about my review of Ogni Kremlya vodka? It’s Russian. It’s vodka.

Ogni Kremlya deserves another try

Here’s what I can gather from my memory and from talking to my friends: the taste was apparently okay. The aftertaste was apparently okay as well. People have been mentioning a sense of sweetness, and I don’t have a headache, so I guess those are good things.

The bottle design is okay. The price of about 14€ for 700ml was very good.

I think I’m going to have to try this one again some day.
