Rublëvka vodka

decent

This is a review of Rublëvka Gold vodka from Russia. I sampled it in Germany in 2013. It’s clear, 40% alcohol, and I thought it was pretty decent.

I guess you could write Rublëvka Gold vodka (Рублевка Золото) as Rublevka. And I guess you could call it an infusion, too. Much like in the case of Nemiroff Original, a little bit of honey is being added to the water-alcohol mix. And, in the case of Rublëvka Gold vodka: oatmeal extract. I guess it’s more of an accentuation than a proper infusion, though.

random ads

Shame on me. I wasn’t able to find any proper information about Rublëvka Gold vodka online. No website. No social media. Not even a manufacturer. What I did find was a brand film on YouTube, though:

It’s short and simple. First an animation of a house during winter:

Then a room that’s decorated for Christmas. And there’s the bottle:

A RUSSIAN EXPECTATION OF THE HOLIDAY:

Cheesy. But okay.

Oh, and there’s even a second ad video on YouTube:

This one is basically just the bottle:

Twirling around to some music:

Along with its sister product, Rublëvka Platinum vodka:

I guess at least it looked nice.

the procedure

The scenario of the tasting process was the same as usual: a group of friends around a table with some food and some shot glasses, and a bottle of vodka. We never cool the vodka and we never mix it with anything else. We take our time going through the bottle, shot by shot. Sometimes I ask them what they think. And I take notes.

Rublëvka Gold vodka is solid

Here is my review of Rublëvka Gold vodka: the smoothness was definitely there. It went down easily, there was no fighting and no gasping for air. The aftertaste was alright as well. It made me feel warm in the stomach, and there was a hint of a flowery aroma. I wonder if that had to do with the honey and oatmeal extract accentuation.

When I checked out the bottle, I thought it didn’t look too bad, and the price of about 17€ for 700ml was okay, too.

might work in mixed drinks

My verdict: there are better vodka brands than this one. But then again, there are also a lot of brands that are worse. I think Rublëvka Gold vodka might work well in a mixed drink. I haven’t tried that, though.

As always, I had it straight and at room temperature.
