I can’t be fair

This is a review of Vox vodka from the Netherlands. I sampled it in Germany in 2011. It’s clear, 40% alcohol, and I thought it was okay but overpriced.

Whenever I hear the word “vox”, I immediately think of that terrible, terrible singer who calls himself “Bono Vox”. I hate him so much, I don’t even know where to begin. Maybe I should rant about him. That tax-evading, Dubyah-befriending, shitmusic-making, itunes-raping, self-righteous piece of shit stadium rocker.

But I digress. Vox vodka is an innocent alcoholic beverage from the Netherlands. And I got a bottle of it for myself.

Here’s the thing, though. The domain voxvodka.com leads to a “page not found” notice on the website of Beam Suntory, one of the largest producers of alcoholic beverages on the planet:

Wait, this Beam Suntory company has a very ugly logo, you say? Why yes! Yes, it does! This is apparently what happened when the Japanese whiskey brand Suntory bought the American whiskey brand Jim Beam. Reminds me of the movie The Fly. Just ew.

But what about our Vox vodka? Where did it go?

I found a Facebook community, but it hadn’t been updated since 2012:

So yeah, I don’t know. Maybe Vox vodka died during the creation of Beam Suntory aka The Fly.

Vox vodka is a bit harsh

Back to the review though. Vox vodka works okay in a mixed drink, but if you consume it neat and at room temperature (like I do with every vodka that I taste), it’s a bit harsh. Also, it doesn’t have much of an aroma in the aftertaste.

The bottle looks okay, the price of 19€ for 700ml was a bit higher than I expected, though.

Overall, Vox vodka is okayish. Better than that asshole from U2. But still just okayish.
